Bass Guitar

Well, if you don't me very well, music is a big thing for me outside of work  Guitar, bass, keyboards and drums are the the instruments with bass being the current main one.

A Fender 5 string J-bass (see the main page) and a 4 string Rickenbaker backed up with a MesaBoogie 400+ and cabinet.

Here I am attempting to "feel" the bass.  Works out pretty well sitting there in front of the 15" woofer.

The other one is me learning Tool's "Hooker with a P."...hey Kevin...you got that one yet?

Drum Kit

Yep, still trying to learn how to do this.  Not anywhere as easy as one might think and it sure does take an aweful lot of pure energy.  Been taking lessons since around the summer of 2002 and I've got a whole lot more respect for drum players.

Pork Pie...what a truely awesome name for a company..

Guitars

Well, as far as rock'n roll is concerned, like so many others, guitar is where I started.  Initially with a six string steel string accoustic, followed by a classical guitar.  Both of these were high school with multiple years of classical lessons.  Finally, after college and a couple years in the "real" world, a purchase of a custom Les Paul so I could be just like Jimmy Page (ha ha).  Recently, another purchase of a Gibson, this time the ever famous double neck (again, a Jimmy Page'ism).

Mixing/Home Recording

With all of the music going on in my basement, there certainly needed to be a way to capture all of this.  With a home computer and a couple pieces of equipment, recording's pretty easy.  Currently, analog inputs go thru a MOTU 896 eight channel A-D and then off thru firewire to a PC for recording/editing/mixing thru Emagic's Logic Platinum software.  Various mic's allow guitar/bass cabinets, vocals and drums to be picked up.  Some tweaking also thru a dbx compressor, Sabine feedback 2020 eliminator and a couple of Bluetube mic preams help out at times too.

So, here I am attempting to mix one of the jams.  So many options to choose from...
